Kristen Pott, B.E.S., M.Sc.

Bio

Kristen is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Master of Science in Geography, focusing on sustainable development. She completed her Bachelor of Environmental Studies with a Diploma of Excellence in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 

Kristen has conducted extensive ecological site mapping including identifying different vegetation community types from orthoimagery, digitizing field information, and creation of a wide variety of cartographic mapping. In addition to smaller scale ecological projects, Kristen also has experience mapping natural heritage systems for a variety of municipalities. She has written methodology for municipalities in creating and mapping certain natural heritage features; specifically, pulling out statistics and criteria for core areas, significant wetlands, and significant woodland features identified as key natural heritage features. She also has remote sensing experience identifying different vegetation areas from NDVI values, and object-based classification in eCognition, both from an ecological perspective and identifying different cropping values during her work experience at Agriculture Canada. She has an extensive knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, QGIS, and intermediate python and R coding.
