Bio

Owen completed a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the University of Guelph, where he developed a strong foundation in ecological research, scientific writing, and field techniques. During this time, he gained valuable field experience through coursework and internships, which sparked a keen interest in aquatic ecology.

Prior to NSE, Owen worked as an Aquatic Field Biologist at Natural Resource Solutions Inc. (NRSI), where he conducted fish community assessments, fish relocations, benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, and aquatic habitat assessments across lakes and rivers in Ontario. He also contributed to terrestrial monitoring projects including bird, anuran, and bat acoustic surveys, further expanding his ecological fieldwork portfolio.

In addition to fieldwork, Owen has experience preparing technical reports, project proposals, and permit applications, including several successful NDMNRF Licenses to Collect Fish. This work demonstrates his ability to manage data collection, analysis, and reporting in support of regulatory compliance and environmental assessment.

As an Ecologist with NSE, Owen applies his field expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and collaborative mindset to contribute to multidisciplinary ecological projects involving both aquatic and terrestrial systems.
